The synthesis of substituted l‐phenylalkyl‐2‐alkyl‐l.2,3,4,5,6,7,8‐octahydroisoquinolines and their resolution into optical antipodes are described. 1‐(Nitrophenylalkyl)‐2‐methylderivatives are potent analgesics.
