Abstract
Three tritium‐labelled isotopomers of histamine (HA) have been synthesized using combined chemical and enzymatic methods. In the first step the tritium‐labelled isotopomers of histidine have been obtained by catalysed exchange with tritiated water. These intermediates have been converted into [1S‐^3^H]‐HA, [1R‐^3^H]‐HA and [2′,4′,1S,‐^3^H~3~]‐HA using the enzyme histidine decarboxylase (HDC, EC 4.1.1.22) from Lactobacillus 30a.
