โœฆ Synopsis

Temperature dependency of sexual agglutination in Saccharomyces cerevisiae was found. Of 31 strains tested, which showed normal agglutination when cultured at 25 degrees C, 29 strains lost their sexual agglutinability when they were grown at 37 degrees C.

From cells of Saccharomyces cerevisiae a factor has been extracted that destroys the agglutinability of a mating-type cells specifically. It was found in the cell extracts of diploid and tetraploid strains as well as haploid strains of a and ~ mating types. It is heat-labile and the molecular weight

A recessive agal mutation leads to specific defect in sexual agglutinability specifically in a cells of the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The cryptopleurine resistance gene cryr~l, closely linked to the mating type locus, was used to select a/a strains which emerged from a/a strains by mitotic non

Effects of ethyl N-phenylcarbamate (EPC) on the mating reaction of Saccharomyees cerevisiae were studied, with special attention on the effect on the c~ pheromone action. EPC inhibited zygote formation at a concentration which promoted induction of sexual agglutinability. EPC enhanced agglutinabilit

Genetic regulation of the inducibility of sexual agglutination ability in the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae was studied. Detailed analysis of the degree of sexual agglutination was carried out; it showed that a greater number of genes are involved in the regulation of inducible sexual agglutination
