✦ Synopsis

A dynamic kinetic resolution process using (4S)-4-isopropyl-1,3oxazolidin-2-one as chiral auxiliary was developed. Starting from equimolar mixtures of 2-bromoimides, the nucleophilic displacement of bromine with 4-chlorophenoxide was found to proceed with good diastereoselectivity. The chiral auxilary was easily removed to afford enantiomerically pure analogues of clofibrate.
