โฆ Synopsis
The sedimentation coefficient of T2 phage DNA has been studied by zone centrifugation in sector-shaped preparative centrifuge tubes over a concentration range of 0.02-2.0 rg./ml. DNA. These results have been compared to a similar study in the analytical centrifuge of T4 DNA over the range of 0.50-5.75 pg./ml. DNA. A value for the sedimentation coefficient of 60.7 z!= 1.8 S. was obtained by the first method and a value of 61.3 j = 1.5 S. by the second.

The sedimentation coefficients of branched and cyclic replicating DNA structures have been calculated taking into account both chain stiffness and excluded volume effects. ## Abstract The degree of preferred orientation and the coiling of the deoxyribonucleic acid within phage T~4~ was studied by two independent techniques, namely, polarization of fluorescence and uv linear dichroism. A correlation between the two kinds of data was obtained, which indicated that a si
