The transient electric birefringence behavior of bacteriophage T2 and the T2 ghost or protein coat was studied. The field free relaxation measurements show both the intact virus and its ghost to have two rotary diffusion coefficients. These coefficients have values of 555 f 54 and 111 f 22 sec.-1 fo

## Abstract We have determined extinction angles and flow birefringence of T7 bacteriophage DNA over a wide range of shear, polymer concentration, and solvent ionic strength. From these data, information on the simple salt dependence of coil permeability to solvent and on short‐range intrachain int

The sedimentation coefficient of T2 phage DNA has been studied by zone centrifugation in sector-shaped preparative centrifuge tubes over a concentration range of 0.02-2.0 rg./ml. DNA. These results have been compared to a similar study in the analytical centrifuge of T4 DNA over the range of 0.50-5.

## Abstract The degree of preferred orientation and the coiling of the deoxyribonucleic acid within phage T~4~ was studied by two independent techniques, namely, polarization of fluorescence and uv linear dichroism. A correlation between the two kinds of data was obtained, which indicated that a si

## Abstract We have measured the binding equilibria of proflavin to T2L bacteriophage, in both β€œslow” and β€œfast” sedimenting forms, and to free T2L DNA. Measurements were carried out by difference spectroscopy at 430 nm at temperatures from 13 to 43Β°C and at pH 5.6 and 7.6. We found no significant
