Oxygen reduction has been studied at silver electrodes in alkaline solutions. &e-treatment of the electrodes significantly affects the kinetics of the reduction. At the pre-reduced electrodes, the rate-determining step at high cds is the first discharge step. At low cds, the rate-determining step changes and a chemical step which follows a charge-transfer step becomes the rate determining. At the electrodes not prereduced, the thirst discharge step is rate-determining. dissociated before the rate-determining step.
