The ionization of oxygen in alkaline solutions on a nickel substrate is examined, with special reference to the state of the nickel surface. If nickel is maintained at above cc -0.15 V es hydrogen in the same solution, oxygen begins to be adsorbed: above +0-l V a phase oxide such as Ni(OH)$ is proba

โฆ Synopsis
The mechanism of oxygen ionization on silver in alkaline solutions has been investigated by the methods of triangular and trapezoidal voltage pulses as well as by the method of applying triangular voltage pulses on the rotating disk electrode with a ring. The process occurs with the participation both of 2 and 4 electrons, depending on the surface state, in particular on its oxidation state and on the potential.
Oxygen adsorbed on silver during anodic polarization is reduced directly to OH-without the intermediate formation of hydrogen peroxide.

Le processus implique la participation simult&e. de 2 ou de 4 electrons, selon petat de surface, en particulier son &at d'oxydation et son potentiel.

Oxygen reduction has been studied at silver electrodes in alkaline solutions. &e-treatment of the electrodes significantly affects the kinetics of the reduction. At the pre-reduced electrodes, the rate-determining step at high cds is the first discharge step. At low cds, the rate-determining step ch
Ag,O and AgO formed by potentiostatic oxidation of silver in O.lN KOH have been chemically analysed for the mean valency of silver ion. The anodic oxide formation proceeds in two stages and the silver ion in the oxide changes from Ag+ to Ag2+ at a transition potential. The reduction of AgO at consta
