✦ Synopsis

Anodic characteristics of La, _,Sr,MnO, electrodes were investigated in alkaline solutions. It was found that the catalytic activity for the oxygen evolution reaction was relatively high and increased with the increase of x in La, _,Sr,MnO,. The primary discharge step of hydroxide ion is rate-controlling in the anodic evolution of oxygen at La, _,SrxMn03 electrodes. The catalytic'ptoperty for this reaction is discussed by applying the theory of o* band formation to the interaction between the e, orbital of Mn cation and the ek&ron orbital of-hydroxide ion.
