✦ Synopsis
The title compound, {[(C 6 H 5 CH 2 )N(C 2 H 5 ) 3 ][Cd(SCN) 3 ]} n , contains benzyltriethylammonium cations lying between one-dimensional chains of stoichiometry {[Cd(SCN) 3 ] À } n . Each Cd 2+ ion is 3N,3S-hexacoordinated by thiocyanate ligands in an octahedral arrangement. The asymmetric unit contains one cation and one anion.

The title compound, [Cd("-SCN) 2 (C 7 H 7 NO 2 ) 2 ] n , has been prepared from the reaction of 3-aminobenzoic acid, NH 4 SCN and Cd(NO 3 ) 2 Á6H 2 O in MeOH/H 2 O. It consists of onedimensional polymeric chains, which are extended into a two-dimensional layer structure by head-to-head hydrogen bond
Reaction of Co(NCS) 2 and 2-aminobenzonitrile (ABN) produces the title one-dimensional polymer, [Co(NCS) 2 -(ABN) 2 ] n , where ABN is 2-aminobenzonitrile (C 7 H 6 N 2 ). Octahedrally coordinated Co II ions are bridged by the ABN molecules, which are coordinated to the central metal via the N donors
In the crystal structure of the title compound, [Cu(NCS)-(C 4 H 3 IN 2 )] n , each Cu atom is coordinated by three thiocyanate anions and one 2-iodopyrazine ligand within a distorted tetrahedron. The Cu-coordinated units form dimers, which are connected into layers by the thiocyanate anions.
The NCS ligand in the title compound, [Cu(NCS)(C 10 H 9 N 3 )] n , bridges adjacent tetrahedral Cu I atoms through the sulfur end into a linear chain that runs along the b axis of the orthorhombic unit cell.
