This communication reports a simple, rapid and convenient means of converting sulfonyl chlorides I to thiolsulfonate esters II using a 1:l mixture of iron pentacarbonyl and boron trifluoride ether-ate in N,N-dimethylacetamide (DMAC) or tetramethylurea (TMU). A typical procedure follows. BFx.(C7H5)7

✦ Synopsis
In 1959, Hieber and Lipp' reported briefly the deoxygenatlon of pyridine N-oxide with iron pentacarbonyl. In view of the highly polar N-C bond of Nnitrosamines (which can formally be viewed as N-nltrene N-oxides), the action of iron pentacarbonyl of N-nltrosamlnes was considered as a possible route to N-nltrenes.

## Abstract N‐methylanilino‐tribromosilane, N‐ethylanilino‐tribromosilane, and di(N‐ethylanilino)‐dibromosilane have been prepared from the corresponding N,N‐dialkylaniline and silicon tetrabromide at about 180°.
