In 1959, Hieber and Lipp' reported briefly the deoxygenatlon of pyridine N-oxide with iron pentacarbonyl. In view of the highly polar N-C bond of Nnitrosamines (which can formally be viewed as N-nltrene N-oxides), the action of iron pentacarbonyl of N-nltrosamlnes was considered as a possible route
