Abstract
(1β^13^C)β, (2β^13^C)β, (3β^13^C)β, (3β^13^CH~3~)β, (4β^13^C), and (^13^CH~3~O)~2~β ubiquinoneβ10 and the corresponding (1β^13^C)β, (6β^13^C)β, (5β^13^C)β, (5β^13^CH~3~)β, (4β^13^C)β, and (^13^CH~3~O)~2~βubiquinoneβ0 have been synthesised from simple labelled starting materials via a single reaction scheme. The ubiquinones have been characterised using mass spectrometry, ^1^H NMR and ^13^C NMR. The spectroscopic results indicate that, within experimental error, the syntheses have been accomplished without scrambling or dilution of label. All labelled ubiquinones have been synthesised on a decigram scale.
