✦ Synopsis
A new, reproducible and simple method combining solid-phase extraction (SPE) and reversed-phase high performance liquid chromatography for the simultaneous determination of phenolic acids and linear furanocoumarins in Libanotis dolichostyla fruits has been developed. A preparative separation of the compounds examined was carried out on Baker-Bond 1 octadecyl and quaternary amine SPE-columns using various concentrations of methanol and acetonitrile in water. High and reproducible recoveries were obtained. The results showed that the concentration of compounds examined was highly dependent on the stage of fruit maturation, confirming the possible role of phenolic acids and furanocoumarins as phytoalexins.
