We present the first results from a new electrospray ionization Fourier transform ion cyclotron resonance mass spectrometer operated at a magnetic field of 9.4 T (i.e. 2 2.4 T higher than for any prior FTICR instrument). The 9.4 T instrument provides substantially improved performance for large mole

✦ Synopsis
We have determined the mas spectra of three polypeptides which have been designed as an effective reagent to be used in the diagnosis of a Chinese strain of Hepatitis E Virus (HEV). The spectra were determined by elecbrospwy ionization-Fourier transform ion cyclotron resonance mass spectrometer. These are peptide 30, peptide 33 and peptide 42, where the guanidine amino group of arginine in each polypeptide was protected. The molecular weights were respectively measured as 3575,4094 and 5390 Dalton, against the molecular weights of bovine serum albumin (66430 Da) and bovine insulin (5732.77 Da).

The ions produced by "'Cf plasma desorption are detected by Fourier transform ion cyclotron resonance techniques. Results for CsI and N,N,N-trimethyl-p-aminophenolate iodide show the feasibility of the technique with high resolution (up to 11 000 at m / z 23) and good signal-to-noise ratio (up to 72
Computer simulation studies were made to analyse the behavior of ions under broadband excitation in a cylindrical FTICR ion trap. The mechanism of off-resonance excitation of ions was investigated by displaying the tangential components of the Lorentz force and phase diagram. It was found that a com
It is well-known that mass resolving power in Fourier transform ion cyclotron resonance mass spectrometry (FTICR MS) can increase linearly with increasing applied magnetic field induction, B. Here, we show that eight other FTICR primary performance parameters theoretically also increase linearly (qu
