✦ Synopsis

The polarized excitation spectrum of the triplet-triplet absorption of some hydrocarbons has been measured by the method of photoselection. Advantages offered by the polarized excitation spectrum for further polarization work are briefiy discussed.

## Abstract The difference between the triplet‐triplet and singlet‐singlet absorption spectrum of naphthalene has been measured at 90Β°K using a newly developed computer controlled spectrograph. Good spectral resolution has been obtained and a strong band was found in the ultraviolet region. Recent

In this note we report the polarization of the well known triplet-trip@ absorption of anthracene in the 4500 -4100 A region and the assignment for the total space symmetry of the upper state. The short lifetime of the anthracene lowest triplet state makes this determination slightly more difficult t

Tne triplet-triplet absorption spectrum and its polarization of picene were measured from 3750 to 15 800 A. &sides the strong transition at about 6300 A, two others are located at 4875 and 9300 A. These experimental data were compared with calculated results obtiined by Orloff The triplet-triplet
