In the title compound, [Ca(C 24 H 27 N 7 )(CH 3 OH)](ClO 4 ) 2 Á-CH 3 OH, the Ca 2+ ion is coordinated by all seven N atoms from the tris[2-(2-pyridylmethyleneamino)ethyl]amine ligand and by the O atom of a methanol molecule, in an approximately square-antiprismatic geometry.

The title vanadium complex, [VClO(C 16 H 22 N 4 )]ClO 4 , of the tetradentate ligand N,N H -dimethyl-N,N H -bis(2-pyridylmethyl)ethane-1,2-diamine was obtained from air oxidation of a mixture of the ligand and VCl 3 in wet methanol.
