✦ Synopsis

Using laser-induced fiuorcscence in a lo\v-pressure 110~ system, the lifetimes of the 00'0 and 10'0 vibmtionsl levels of the B *fIi state of NC0 h,wc been measured. The results. 63 and 410 ns respectively, indhte that the dissociation lintit to N(*D) + CO lies between these lcvcls. This corresponds to ZI diiocistion energy 08 < 1.68 eV and an entltalpy of formation AHO~.~~~ a 48 kcA/ntole for NCO, and AH: 298 (HNCO) > -14 kc=ll/molc.
