The radiative lifetime of the AlCl A'II, u=O state has been determined by a laser-induced fluorescence method to be 6.4x 10e9 s. The estimated accuracy limits are + 40%.

✦ Synopsis
Model potential calculations of the B r Du-X r xz transition dipole moment are used in conjunction with the empirica potential energy curves of Vidal and Hessel to calc&te the radiative lifetimes of the vibrational levels of the B r Du state. The lifetimes are nearly independent of the vibrational quantum number with a value between 8 and 9 ns.

The fragment HCO, produced from acetaldehyde by photolysis at 300 nm, was detected by laser-induced fluorescence of B 'A'g 'A' transitions. The fluorescence lifetimes of the HCO B state decrease rapidly as the photolysis energy increases, indicating strong predissociation of the B state. The radiati
