โœฆ Synopsis

Kinetic data for the oxidation of D-glucose by hexachloroiridate(IV) and tetrachloroaurate(II1) are reported.

The reactions have been studied spectrophotometrically over a wide range of experimental conditions. The activation parameters have been calculated and mechanisms are suggested.

The kinetics of the reaction between nitrous acid and gold(Ill) in an HCI medium was studied. The reaction was first order with respect to rAu III] and [HNO2]'H + and C1-ions inhibit the rate and alkali metal ions have specific effects on the rate. The reaction appears to involve different gold(III)
