A method for enzymatic assay of imidazole acetic acid (ImAA) was developed, based on the strict substrate specificity of imidazole acetate monooxygenase from Pseudomonas sp. [Maki et al. (1969) J. Biol. Chem., 244., 2942-29501, which catalyzes concomitant conversion of NADH to NAD+. Thus, ImAA was d

β¦ Synopsis
A simple method for the quantitative determination of tellurite ions in aqueous media including blood plasma or serum is described. This assay is based on the selective and potent inhibition of a Zn*+ -glycerophosphocholine phosphocholine phosphodiesterase by tellurite ions in the presence of tetramethylammonium ions. The assay method, which showed a good relationship between the enzyme inhibition and the amount of tellurite ions (50 nM-5 PM), was found to be rapid (< 5 min), reproducible (mean C.V., 6.5%), and at the same time, sensitive, showing a low limit of detection (50 nmol). Based on this technique, the removal of tellurites by thiols, and the kinetics for the uptake of tellurite ions in blood were investigated.

A new method was developed for the accurate determination of the degree of deacetylation of chitosan. The method involves the complete hydrolysis of chitosan to glucosamine and N-acetylglucosamine by a cooperative action of chitosanolytic enzymes exo-beta-D-glucosaminidase, beta-N-acetylhexosaminida
An enzymatic method for the determination of picomol amounts of dCMP in cellfree extracts was developed. The method is based on the quantitative phosphorylation of dCMP to dCTP by a partially purified dCMP-kinase and a pure NDP-kinase. The dCTP formed is measured using a DNApolymerase assay. With t
