โœฆ Synopsis

Abstract

The behaviour of bicyclo [2.2.2]octaโ€2,5โ€diene (1) towards perbenzoic acid, 2,4 dinitrophenylsulfenyl chloride and ozone has been studied. In no instance was the formation of a homotricyclene derivative by homoconjugative addition observed. However, the primary formation of homoallylic ions cannot be excluded.
