## Abstract Two labeled isotopomers of L‐tyrosine, L‐Tyr, have been synthesized using specific properties of the enzymes phenylanine ammonia lyase, PAL, and L‐phenylalanine hydroxylase. In an intermediate step [1‐^14^C]‐, and [2‐^14^C]‐L‐phenylalanine, L‐Phe, have been obtained from [1‐^14^C]‐, and

✦ Synopsis
A direct and a diffusion method to be applied when measuring ~4C labelled carbon dioxide by productivity measurements in natural water have been described. The labelled carbonate was trapped by t N solutions of NaOH, KOH or Ba(OH h. Results comparable to those obtainable by the biological method are achieved when using 100 tzl of a 1 N KOH solution as a fixation reagent. The radiocarbonate fixed in this way was found to be stable for several days when dried, cooled, and stored in a desiccator. The reliability of these methods was demonstrated by analysing solutions containing various amounts of laC labelled carbonate.

## Abstract A simple and convenient method for the condensation of paminophenol (I) with ^14^C‐acetic anhydride (II) yields up to 76% of ^14^C‐labelled 4‐hydroxyphenylacetamide (carbonyl‐^14^C) (III). Typical synthesis time is 60 minutes. Radioactive yield is 51%, and specific activity is 0.22 μCi/
## Abstract The synthesis of ^14^C‐labelled poly(ℓ‐menthyl isopropenyl carbonate) is described. Experimental conditions are included for incorporation of ^14^C into each of the carbon atoms in the molecule. High pressure liquid chromatography conditions are given for separation and purification of
