We developed a rapid and simple method for estimating tissue elastin content by measuring desmosine (D) in tissue hydrolysates by competitive ELISA. We compared the ELISA previously reported HPLC methods. When D or isodesmosine (ID) in hydrolysate of the same elastin preparation were measured by the
