The Ni atom in the linear polymeric title complex, [Ni{S~2~P(OC~6~H~11~)~2~}~2~(NC~5~H~4~C~5~H~4~N)]~n~ or [Ni(C~12~H~22~O~2~PS~2~)~2~(C~10~H~8~N~2~)]~n~, is octahedrally coordinated within a trans-N~2~S~4~ donor set. The Ni atom and the N atoms of the 4,4′-bipyridine ligand are located on a twofold axis.
