## Abstract This article provides a study of monopoles derived from planar configurations by repeated plate rotation. A comparison of four prototypes shows that an increasing number of plates broadens the H‐plane 100% pattern uniformity bandwidth. At the same time, a very broad impedance bandwidth

former applied as a /4 matching line between two different impedances, and is also without etching in the ground plane. Two typical examples are introduced: matching between 50⍀ and 25⍀ and between 50⍀ and 12.5⍀. In both cases the reduction of the length of the proposed /4 line is 60% (or higher), compared to the conventional /4 matching line. For the realized example, the agreement obtained between the simulated and measured results is excellent. This similar /4 matching line can find applications for matching other impedance ratios.

## Abstract A novel cross‐plate monopole antenna formed by two orthogonal step‐shaped metal plates is presented. The antenna occupies a compact cross‐sectional area and yet provides a wide operating bandwidth (lower‐to‐upper‐edge frequency ratio larger than 1:6) with omnidirectional or near‐omnidir

## Abstract A broadband E‐shaped monopole antenna for universal serial bus (USB) dongle applications is demonstrated experimentally and numerically. According to the experimental results, the operating mode has an impedance bandwidth of approximately 39.8% (1.83–2.74 GHz) that covers the UMTS, WiBr
## Abstract A broadband printed π‐shaped monopole antenna is presented. The antenna is easily achieved by adding two short vertical strips (one is a feeding strip and one is a short‐circuiting strip) to a long horizontal strip, forming into a π shape with a low profile. This antenna can generate a
