This paper presents a novel square-cylindrical monopole antenna fabricated using a single metal plate. A prototype of the proposed antenna with a cross-sectional area of 10 ϫ 10 mm 2 and a length of 30 mm is implemented, and the measured results indicate that the antenna can provide good omnidirecti

✦ Synopsis
Abstract
A novel cross‐plate monopole antenna formed by two orthogonal step‐shaped metal plates is presented. The antenna occupies a compact cross‐sectional area and yet provides a wide operating bandwidth (lower‐to‐upper‐edge frequency ratio larger than 1:6) with omnidirectional or near‐omnidirectional radiation patterns. Details of the proposed antenna are described, and a prototype is constructed and studied. © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. ## Abstract In this article, an inverted planar monopole antenna with two shorting plates is proposed. This inverted planar monopole antenna provides a 3.55:1 impedance bandwidth (for VSWR < 2). Owing to its compact size and wide impedance bandwidth, this antenna is suitable for CDMA, GSM, DCS, PCS
former applied as a /4 matching line between two different impedances, and is also without etching in the ground plane. Two typical examples are introduced: matching between 50⍀ and 25⍀ and between 50⍀ and 12.5⍀. In both cases the reduction of the length of the proposed /4 line is 60% (or higher), c
