✦ Synopsis

This paper presents a novel square-cylindrical monopole antenna fabricated using a single metal plate. A prototype of the proposed antenna with a cross-sectional area of 10 ϫ 10 mm 2 and a length of 30 mm is implemented, and the measured results indicate that the antenna can provide good omnidirectional radiation over a wide frequency band covering 2 to 11 GHz, thus making it very promising for IEEE 802.16a operation.
