✦ Synopsis

Abstract

In this article, an inverted planar monopole antenna with two shorting plates is proposed. This inverted planar monopole antenna provides a 3.55:1 impedance bandwidth (for VSWR < 2). Owing to its compact size and wide impedance bandwidth, this antenna is suitable for CDMA, GSM, DCS, PCS, and wireless LAN (IEEE 802.11b) applications. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. ## Abstract A new tunable band‐notched ultra wideband planar monopole antenna is presented. The proposed antenna consists of a wideband planar monopole antenna, band‐notched resonating stubs, and varactor diodes. To generate the tunable band‐notched characteristic, we applied a short‐circuited quar
