✦ Synopsis

Abstract

A compact CPW fed planar inverted conical antenna with coplanar ground embedding the radiator has been studied with regard to its suitability for the UWB transceivers operating over 3.1–10.6 GHz. Performance of planar inverted conical antenna embedded in a similar shaped ground plane is compared with the planar inverted conical antenna having ground in plane with the radiator. Results from the simulations have been validated through experimentations. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. ## Abstract In this article, an inverted planar monopole antenna with two shorting plates is proposed. This inverted planar monopole antenna provides a 3.55:1 impedance bandwidth (for VSWR < 2). Owing to its compact size and wide impedance bandwidth, this antenna is suitable for CDMA, GSM, DCS, PCS
