✦ Synopsis

In the title compound, [Zn(C~30~H~28~BN~6~)(C~4~H~3~N~2~O~3~)]·CH~3~OH, the Zn^II^ atom is coordinated in a tetrahedral geometry by three N atoms from the pyrazolyl groups of the tripodal ligand, and by one O atom from a barbiturate anion.

Reaction of potassium hydridotris(5-methyl-3-phenylpyrazoly)borate with copper(II) acetate in methanol at room temperature gives the title compound, [Cu(C 30 H 28 BN 6 )-(C 2 H 3 O 2 )]. The Cu atom is five-coordinated by three N atoms from pyrazolyl groups and two O atoms from the acetate ligand.
