✦ Synopsis
Treatment of deprotonated N,N 0 -bis-(4-methyl-2-benzothiazolyl)-2,6-pyridicarboxamide (L 2À ) with CuCl 2 Á2H 2 O yields the mononuclear title complex, CuL(H 2 O) or [Cu(C 23 H 15 N 5 -O 2 S 2 )(H 2 O)]. The Cu II atom adopts a distorted square-planar coordination geometry, binding to two deprotonated amide N atoms, the pyridine N atom and the water O atom. In the crystal structure, weak C-HÁ Á ÁO and C-HÁ Á ÁS hydrogen bonds, and C-HÁ Á Á andinteractions stabilize the crystal structure.

The Cu^II^ ion of the title complex, [Cu(SO~4~)(C~15~H~11~N~3~O)(H~2~O)]·2H~2~O, exhibits a square-pyramidal coordination geometry, defined by the three N-atom donors of a 2,6-bis(pyridin-2-yl)pyridin-4-ol ligand and an O atom of a sulfate group in the basal plane, and by an aqua ligand in the apica
