Cl-di-μ~2~-nitrido-1:2κ^2^
N:N;2:3κ^2^
N:N-tetrapyridine-1κ__N__,2κ^2^
N,3κ__N__-bis(trimethylsilylimido-2κ__N__)tritungsten(V) dichloromethane disolvate, [W~3~(C~3~H~9~NSi)~2~Cl~8~N~2~(C~5~H~5~N)~4~]·2CH~2~Cl~2~, the central W metal atom is located on a twofold rotation axis and is coordinated in a distorted octahedral environment by two trimethylsilylimido groups, two pyridine molecules and two μ-N atoms which bridge it to the two other W atoms. These terminal W centers also show a distorted octahedral coordination, the bridging N atom and the pyridine ligand being trans with respect to each other. Additionally, four Cl atoms are bound to each terminal W atom, in a square-planar geometry, completing the octahedral coordination.
