A new polymer-supported TBTU (P-TBTU) has been prepared from polystyrene-bound 1-hydroxybenzotriazole (P-HOBT) and used efficiently as a solid-supported reagent for peptide-coupling reactions, and is even effective with wet solvents. The P-HOBT can be recovered by simple filtration and reused for th

β¦ Synopsis
The discovery of the solid-phase synthesis by Merrifield (1) opened a new way in the synthesis of polypeptides. However, since the chlorobenzyl-qrouas are uniformly distributed throughout the polystyrene-resin particles (2), all reaction rates are unfavorably controlled by diffusion. This distribution cannot be overcome by using resins with lower concentration of chlorobenzyl groups. A second difficulty arises from using different solvents during reaction and washing steps which cause different swelling of resin particles, thus affecting reaction rate, yields in coupling steps, and purity of synthesized peptides (3,4). Differential swelling of the polymer parti-

Automated solid phase synthesis of 2'-deoxyribose oligonucleotides; d(Tp)7T, d(Tps)TT and d(Tp)3(CBZp)2(Tp)2T, was achieved directly in 99% overall yields using a novel silyl linkage to a CPG silica support cleavable within seconds at room temperature using TBAF.
Five types of troponoids including 40 molecules were prepared by means of palladium(0)-catalyzed carbonylation and successive acylation or benzoylation after immobilization of 2-methoxy-5-trifluoromethylsulfonyloxytropone on solid support. Four types of them showed mesophases. The final products hav
A rapid and convenient solid-supported iterative divergent/convergent approach was developed to prepare rigid phenylacetylene dendrimers. The generation number grows very rapidly and the purification at each step is very simple.
