## Abstract In this paper, we design and fabricate a broadband interior‐type planar monopole with an omnidirectional radiation pattern over a wide operation band using a slanted feeding shape. It has a measured 10‐dB impedance bandwidth of about 670 MHz (1585–2255 MHz) covering the DCS (digital cor

✦ Synopsis
Abstract
This article presents a broadband folded planar monopole antenna suitable for DCS (1710–1880 MHz), PCS (1850–1990 MHz), UMTS (1920–2170 MHz), and WLAN (2400–2484 MHz) operations for mobile phones. In addition to the broadband operation, the proposed folded monopole has compact dimensions of 10 mm height, 5 mm width, and 17.5 mm length. Experimental results of the constructed prototype are presented and discussed. © 2002 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. ## Abstract A planar monopole consisting of three branch strips and folded into a rectangular‐box‐like compact structure for very‐low‐profile GSM/DCS/PCS multiband mobile‐phone antennas is presented. The three branch strips are designed to operate as quarter‐wavelength structures at 900, 1800, and
## Abstract A low‐profile internal monopole antenna has been proposed for multistandard mobile phones. The proposed antenna operates at GSM (880–960 MHz), DCS (1710–1880 MHz), PCS (1850–1990 MHz), UMTS (1920–2170 MHz), WiBro (2300–2390 MHz), Bluetooth (2.42–2.48 GHz), S‐DMB (2.630–2.655 GHz), and W
## Abstract This paper presents a novel planar monopole, printed on both sides of a dielectric substrate, which can be concealed within the housing of a folder‐type mobile phone as an internal antenna. The proposed internal planar monopole antenna occupies a small area of 10 × 40 mm^2^, and is capa
An inno¨ati¨e monopole antenna with a parasitic helix mounted on the ground plane is designed for installation on mobile-phone handsets. Unlike the con¨entional monopole antenna, measurements showed that the added parasitic helix could result in a wider bandwidth for the whole antenna. The radiation
