✦ Synopsis

The title compound, [Cd(C 8 H 6 BrNO 4 S)(C 12 H 8 N 2 )(CH 4 O)], incorporating a Schiff base formed by aminomethanesulfonic acid and 5-bromosalicylaldehyde, was synthesized in a watermethanol solution. In the structure, the Cd II atom is sixcoordinated by one O atom from a methanol molecule, two N atoms from a 1,10-phenanthroline ligand, and one N and two O atoms from the Schiff base in a distorted octahedral coordination geometry. A one-dimensional chain structure is formed via C-HÁ Á ÁO hydrogen bonds. Related literature For related literature, see: Casella & Gullotti (1981); Zhang et al. (2005).
