Abstract
In this paper, the vapour transport of PbBr~2~ under vacuum during vacuum distillation refining and its condensation on the wall of the vessel were described. The macroβ and micro morphologies of PbBr~2~ crystals grown in the vessel (glass tube) were studied. The crystal shape changed dramatically depending on the positions of condensation in the vessel, i.e., the crystal shape varied from an isometric polyhedron to columnar crystals with facets, and to a massive crystal without facets with a rise in the wall temperature. These results were interpreted in terms of the concentration gradient of the molecules in the vessel, surface roughening and/or surface melting of the crystals. (Β© 2007 WILEYβVCH Verlag GmbH & Co. Hollow crystals of Bi,Se,S have been grown from vapour. Crystals show open lateral surface and the length of the crystals is 6 to 7 mm. An explanation is given for the growt,h mechanism of the hollow crystals.

It is reported for the first time the growth of urotropine (HMT) crystals by a semiopen physical vapour transport (SOPVT) technique. HMT crystals, approximately 1 cm 3 in volume, are grown on a glass pedestal from solution-grown seeds. The final habit of the crystals is limited by rhomboedrical {110
