In the structure of the title compound, [PdCl~2~(C~5~H~5~N)~2~], determined at 150 K, the Pd atom is located on an inversion centre. The structure is a polymorph of a previously reported structure [Viossat __et al.__ (1993). __Acta Cryst__. C**49**, 84–85].
The title compound, [Pd(CH 3 )Cl(C 5 H 5 N) 2 ], has been synthesized by the reaction of [PdMeCl(COD)] (COD is 1,5cyclooctadiene) with pyridine in dichloromethane; it is square-planar. The crystal structure features dipole-dipole and stacking interactions.
