The relative thermodynamic properties of solid iron-aluminum alloys were obtained in the vicinity of 900Β°C by e.m.f. measurements, using a molten chloride electrolyte. The heats of mixing are large and negative, with HM = -8200 Cal/g atom at 50 at.?& Large negative entropies of mixing were also obs

β¦ Synopsis
The relative thermodynamic properties of the Al-Ag system have been determined in the temperature range 642-820Β°K by means of emf measurements and compared with the local atomic arrangements determined from diffuse X-ray scattering.
Qualitative agreement is obtained with both the quasichemical and Friedel's theory.

A new method of measurement of partial vapor pressures over solid alloys has been developed. Solid alloys are formed at elevated temperatures from pure components--one of them being present in vapor form at constant partial pressure-until equilibrium with vapor is reached. The volatile element is ma
