✦ Synopsis

The relative thermodynamic properties of the Al-Ag system have been determined in the temperature range 642-820Β°K by means of emf measurements and compared with the local atomic arrangements determined from diffuse X-ray scattering.

Qualitative agreement is obtained with both the quasichemical and Friedel's theory.

PROPRIETES

The Knudsen method has been employed to measure the vapor pressures of the pure elements silver and antimony and to determine the thermodynamic data of solid ol-Ag-%-alloys. A new method of measurement of partial vapor pressures over solid alloys has been developed. Solid alloys are formed at elevated temperatures from pure components--one of them being present in vapor form at constant partial pressure-until equilibrium with vapor is reached. The volatile element is ma
