The synthesis of tritium-labelled misonidazole via the NaB3H4. reduction of 1-(3-methoxy-2~xopropyl) -2-nitro-1Himidazole is described. Purification of labelled misonidazole was accqlished by recrystallization. The purity of the labelled cmpund was verified by HPLC.

β¦ Synopsis
A simple and efficient procedure has been developed for the synthesis of [3H]monomethylethanolamine and [3H]dimethylethanolamine. Schiff base formation between formaldehyde and either ethanolamine or monomethylethanolamine was followed by Na B[3H]a reduction. The reaction products were obtained from preparative thin layer chromatography plates.
