## Abstract The preparation of 2, 6‐dimethoxy [U‐^14^C]phenol was carried out in five steps from [U‐^14^C]phenol. [U‐^14^C]Phenol was converted to 2‐[U‐^14^C]phenoxy‐5‐nitrobenzophenone which was sequentially hydroxylated with hydrogen peroxide‐acetic acid to give the di‐__ortho__ hydroxylated phen

✦ Synopsis
Abstract
Pentachlorophenol−^14^C~6~ was synthesized by chlorinating phenol−^14^C~6~ using aluminum chloride as a catalyst. Purification of the labeled pentachlorophenol involved the precipitation of the labeled product from an aqueous alkali solution with hydrochloric acid and two sublimations. Proof of radiochemical purity was determined using thick layer chromatography and autoradiography. Internal liquid scintillation counting techniques were used to determine the specific activity of the compound.
