✦ Synopsis
The chemical reaction of 2,5-dimethylpyrrole (CsHgN) with Oz('A,)
(W)
CsHgN + oz('Ag) -CsHgNOz was studied in the gas phase in an isothermal flow reactor at room temperature and low pressures. The CsHgN concentration profiles were studied under pseudo-first order conditions ([CeHgN], < [Oz('A,)] with mass-spectrometric detection of CsHgN. Oz('As) was produced either in a microwave discharge or in a chemical reaction. The value for the rate constant:
was measured.
The rate constant is compared to the value obtained for the quenching process. The primary product CsHgNO2 was detected by mass spectrometry and the reaction mechanism is proposed. The possibility of using this reaction as a gas phase titration reaction for Oz('AS) is discussed.

The same chemiluminescent spectrum of HNO was obtained in both the reaction systems of 0(3P) + CaHe + NO + 02 (\* A,)/02 and H + NO + 02( 'Ag)/Oa. The reaction mechanism for producing the excited HNO is proposed to be -HNO('A') + 02 ( 'Ag) + HNO(3A", + 0s (3X,) , HNOc3A") + 02 ('A,) --t HNO('A") +
The generation of metastable O, ('Xg+) and Oz('Ag) in the H + 0, system of reactions was studied by the flow discharge chemiluminescence detection method. In addition to the Oz('Pg') and Oz(' , H0,(2A~oo) + H02(2AlohO), H02(zA~o,) + HO,(zA~oo), and H Oz(2A~oo) --+ H0,(2A&,o) emissions were detected
## Abstract The reactions of singlet molecular oxygen (O~2~^1^Δ~g~) with a series of organic compounds have been studied in the gas phase at 298°K. The concentration of singlet molecular oxygen was determined by titration with 2,5‐dimethylfuran. The titration technique was checked using a photoioni
