โฆ Synopsis
Dye-pumped flash systems with enhanced long-wavelength spectral output have been used to escite ozone to a stable electronic state. Enhanced UV transient absorption observed during the flash esperiments is attributed to a combination of over-&l UV shift, as observed previousIy in IR-laser pumped experiments, due to vibrationaIIy exited ozone CO:), combined with a discrete absorption peak at 320 run resulting from strong absorption from electronicalIy exited ozone (0;). The identity of 0; is discussed and evidence Is presented that it is the rA2 state. Comparisons are made with similar results previously obtained in UV flash photolysis and pube radiolysis esperiments.
