When cuprous bromide reacts with an excess of ethylmagnesium bromide in ethyl or c-butyl ether, a copper-containing red solution is formed that markedly catalyzes the reaction of ethyl bromide with ethylmagnesium bromide to give a mixture of ethane and ethylene, 2 usually in the ratio of 1.3 or less
## Abstract Spectrophotometric titration curves of Ξ²βphenylethyl bromide and aluminium bromide at β80Β° in carbon disulphide and heptane at 430 and 250 mΞΌ respectively show the formation of a 1 : 1 complex by a fast reaction, which goes to completion.
