✦ Synopsis

Abstract

Spectrophotometric titration curves of β‐phenylethyl bromide and aluminium bromide at −80° in carbon disulphide and heptane at 430 and 250 mμ respectively show the formation of a 1 : 1 complex by a fast reaction, which goes to completion.

## Abstract A description is given of a cell used in taking ultraviolet spectra, especially at lower temperatures, and of a cryostat which can be kept constant within 0.02° down to −150°. Whilst the spectra are being taken, the concentration can be increased by means of a microburette, with exclusi
