✦ Synopsis


When hydrogen azidc is photolyzed in liquid acetylene, propyne and I-buryne, acetonitrile, propionitrile and butyronitrile, respectively, are found to be formed. Acetonitrilc-& is produced when acetylem& is used as the solvent. These results suggest that the initial products formed in the reactions of NH('& with aIkynes isomerize to nitriles by the mkration of two hydrogen atoms
