Synopsis
The diffusivity of hydrogen in a series of palladium-yttrium solid solutions has been measured by an electro-chemical technique in the temperature range 285-322 K and the composition range t&IO at.%Y. The H-concentration was of the order of 10e4at.%. In all cases the diffusivities for a given Y-concentration obeyed the Arrhenius relationship and, at all temperatures in the measurement range, the presence of Y-atoms effected a decrease in H-mobility in comparison with the W-H binary system. The results have been evaluated in terms of a simple statistical model in which it is assumed that both H and Y atoms occupy the octahedral interstitial sites in the f.c.c. lattice. Gitters besetzen.
