โœฆ Synopsis

The permeability time-lag method has been used to determine the temperature dependence of the diflusivity of hydrogen in a series of nickel-vanadium solid solutions containing from 1.5-13.4 at.",, vanadium.

For all matrix compositions. the hydrogen diffusivity obeyed an Arrhenius relationship and the effect of V-additions was remarkably small, even for the highest V-concentration.

The results have been interpreted in terms of a simple model in which the decrease in hydrogen mobility caused by the effect of trapping sites neighboring the vanadium atoms is compensated by an increased mobility due to the dilation of the matrix lattice effected by substitutional vanadium additions.
