✦ Synopsis
Emission spectra of the 0-0 bands of the a IA -~ X 3~.-transitions of PH and PD have been observed in the near-infrared spectral region near 1.33 Ixm. The phosphorus hydride radicals were generated and excited in a fast-flow system by the reaction of phosphorus vapor with hydrogen or deuterium atoms. The NIR chemiluminescence was measured with a Fourier-transform spectrometer equipped with a Ge detector. Analyses of the bands have yielded spectroscopic constants of the a 1A, v = 0 states (in cm-~): PH: V0o = 7555.0779(8), B 0 = 8.43993(8), D o = 0.0004362(7); PD: V0o = 7551.8938(6), B 0 ffi 4.37667(4), D o = 0.0001170(2), where the numbers in parentheses are the standard deviations of the parameters.
