## Abstract A pentadentate phenol‐containing ligand (H~3~L) with N~2~O~3~ donor atoms yields Ni^II^~2~ (1), Ni^II^~4~ (2), Cu^II^~2~ (3) and Cu^II^~4~ (4) complexes, which have been structurally characterized by X‐ray diffraction. Complex 1 contains a single‐atom __O__‐bridged urea. The compounds w

✦ Synopsis
Five hexacoordinated compounds of type [Cd(L)(X)]YÁnMeCN (1)(2)(3)(4)(5) 5)] are synthesized and characterized. Structures of all the compounds are solved by X-ray diffraction measurements. Structural analyses reveal that each cadmium(II) center adopts a distorted octahedral geometry bound by five N atoms of L along with terminal halide in 1-3 and N atom of terminal pseudohalide in 4 and 5. Intermolecular NAHÁ Á ÁO, CAHÁ Á ÁO, NAHÁ Á ÁF and CAHÁ Á ÁF hydrogen bondings and CAHÁ Á Áp interactions as is the case lead to different crystalline aggregates in 1-5. The complexes display intraligand 1 (pAp à ) fluorescence in DMF solutions at room temperature.
